Tattoo Wednesday. Episode 1: Leah Jung.

But if you do it for the right reasons, your tattoos will make you smile for the rest of your life.

LEAH JUNG
Modelka i wokalistka. Jej sylwetka będzie szerzej prezentowana w albumie fotograficznym dokumentującym sztukę tatuażu (zobacz promo The Tattoo Project).
Ponad 100 godzin spędzonych w studiach tatuażu na ozdabianiu swojego ciała dały piorunujący efekt. Więcej dowiesz się z jej strony internetowej. Leah Jung website.

Name and blog name: leahjung.com

Age: A few more months and I can say I've "survived my 20s".

Occupation: Editor.

Age of first tattoo: My 18th birthday!

Favorite tattoo: They are all kind of one big tattoo, even if they don't integrate. The placement, colors, reference photos that were utilized, everything; I am very involved in the creation of this body, and I love every little bit.

Featured tattoo/location: My most recognizable tattoo is my sleeve.

Tell something about your featured tattoo- is there a background story or special
meaning? Why did you choose this particular piece of art?
I don't often go into detail about the meanings behind them, but a lot of fans have asked about the particulars of the sleeve, so I'm happy to discuss it. A few years ago, I had a high fever, and it must have provoked some intense parts of my mind while I slept. I had a vivid, profound dream about a face in the sky that appeared to rule the world. I was represented by a colorful Phoenix, trying to appease the watchful eye of the mask in the sky. The basic theme overall is the scrutiny that I face, and the importance of accepting yourself just the way you are, despite the pressure to conform. When I woke up from that dream, the first thing I did was tell my boyfriend at the time (who happened to be a tattoo artist) that I needed this sleeve. I had never even considered what/when/if to tattoo my arms until that moment.

Do you have any other tattoos? If so, what do you have and where? So many...

Do you plan on getting more? So many!! Haha.

How do your family and friends feel about your tattoo(s)? Have you run into any adversity or negativity because of them? This hits on both ends of the spectrum. Some people are overly supportive, and others have nasty things to say. My parents love me the way I am, they love that I am self-aware and stick up for the things I'm passionate about. They worry a bit about how I'll feel about my tattoos when I'm older, but I am set in my ways.

Any advice for those interested in getting tattooed but haven't gotten one yet? It hurts, its expensive, and you have to take the time to research tattoo shops & artists. But if you do it for the right reasons, your tattoos will make you smile for the rest of your life.
